It is really and continues among us. He was seen a few days ago, in a suit and tie already board of a wheelchair, in the delivery of the Ariel Awards, which recognize every year to the highlight of Mexican cinema. The short documentary about his life, called Kemonito: The last fall (Directed by Miguel's Spanish journalist), he was one of the nominees and, although he did not take the award, among the ceremony attendees there was no doubt that the kemonite turned out to be one of the characters of the night and perhaps the most photographed by the rest of the invited luminaires. On September 19, the documentary premiered on the Netflix platform.
In a world such as wrestling, which is often more celebrated (or disgusted) than well understood, a character like Kemonite represents a curious infraction to the canons. Because it is not a rough or skillful technician, but it is a type of just 80 centimeters high, which has given him forty of his 57 years of life to the show of the blows and flying kicks as “pet”, although that position has never kept it safe from injuries, falls and problems.
Jesús Juárez Rosales was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, in 1967, with the condition called Acondroplasia, which is popularly known as dwarfism. He worked since childhood in car workshops, carpentry and puffiders and even circuses. In 1984, after training for a season, he began his career in the fight, under the motorcycles of El Duende Maya and El Centavito. Soon his first opportunity came as “pet” of the famous fighter known as darkness.
In his society, and with the first of his hairy costumes (and with ornaments inspired by the Mayan culture), he adopted the name of Alushe and did everything: he served as a manager, climbed into the ring to defend his partner of surprise attacks (and took his good blows for it), and was invited to television with darkness to appear in children's programs as The adventures of Capulina, Odyssey bubbles y Super vacation. His character even reached the comics. As Alushe celebrated his only registered real fight, on April 7, 2003, in which he beat little Sadam in combat of mask bets against mask.
That same year he left Alushe's costume (represented by someone else from there) and signed a contract with the World Wrestling Council (CMLL) to characterize his pet, to which the legendary speaker Alfonso Morales baptized as Kemonito. Juarez himself elaborated the new blue and yellow plush costume that he has behaved since then. He manufactured and sold the merchandising From the character: keychains, masks and dolls. His popularity has not stopped growing in the recent decades and, although he does not fight, he has been considered the most representative name of the CMLL. Another thing that has increased are their hurts. He says he has permanent ailments on the shoulders, cervicals and ribs and has been operated on the knees and nose. Its mobility is limited years ago. He is careful for his wife and five children, one of whom also lives on the fight, under the name of Microman.
In 2023, Juarez left the CMLL between complaints of workplace harassment, dispossession and fraud and went to the independent circuit. He alleges that, although the council has registered the character of Kemonito, he was the one who designed and developed him and who has the legitimate right of his usufruct. The case is still pending resolution. And in the meantime Kemonito, as always in his life, continues in the fight.
